Erin + Brandon

Mountaintop Anniversary

Erin and Brandon got married last year on a beach in Mexico. I knew we would get along when Brandon told me about how it was important for him to get married near the ocean, his love and respect for water and it's greatness somehow parallels over into that emotional element that we call love. It's been a year since their wave-side ceremony, and they wanted to commemorate that by celebrating their bond of marriage here in Washington, where they have since established and built their lives. And also to capture a bit of that love magic that wasn't able to be documented on their real wedding day.

We made a day out of it, and started with a ferry ride across the sound to the peninsula. We ran around the beaches of the hood canal, Erin stopping to adore all of the wildlife from fish to birds. She even helped a little fish stuck in some seaweed back out to the water. We continued onto one of my favorite places in the world, Hurricane Ridge. Where we set up a picnic complete with homemade rosemary-cranberry cocktails, fresh fruit and cheese plates. They know how to do this thing. We were joined by deer and birds, and enjoyed our time watching the clouds pass in the valley to reveal the epicness that is the Olympic Mountain Range.

We ran around as the sun peeked in and out, until we continued up to Hurricane Hill to take photos in full on wedding attire. Brandon helped Erin into her wedding dress and shoes, and we all drank from copper flasks that were a wedding gift. Apparently copper has become their thing. We watched the sun glow golden and dip behind the mountains as the moon rose up and we popped champagne to celebrate that awesome thing called love.

We hiked back to the car and made our way down the windy mountain rodes. We had so much fun, we unfortunately missed the last ferry out of Kingston.. and then raced to Bainbridge to miss that one too. Grateful for clients that make the 5 hour journey home (should have been 2) feel like time with friends. Also grateful we are both blessed with awesome friends who can pet-sit our pups, mine doubling as my favorite florist

It was such a privilege to capture these two's love, and give them something (memories included!) to hold onto for the rest of their lives and remember this pivotal point of their relationship. Thank you for the adventure.
