February on the road
I love Washington deeply, but I believe a big part of being able to love Washington is you have to leave it for a bit at the beginning of the year. After months at home during the pandemic, I was so antsy to get out and explore. I rented out my apartment and packed up Sapa, and headed South for February. I had a few jobs scattered across California and Arizona, and friends all up and down the West Coast. It all worked out perfectly.
I am so grateful for this craft of photography, creating photographs is who I am. In recent years i’ve dove so deep into it I feel completely buried in images at all times. I feel everything more deeply when i’m shooting. I feel more connected to strangers and clients, more connected to the earth and the light, it’s almost like I see life through a lens now. I catch myself composing my real life settings, constantly thinking about how colors are interacting, and I tend to observe and consume, rather than just see. I really feel like my connection to photographing has defined me as a human being, not just as an artist.
