Late summer elopement on lake rainy

Lacey & Sean

This day was the perfect storm of everything falling apart to fall together. With the season of COVID cancellations, a slow start to the summer, I was just getting back into the flow of shooting. I was lucky to shoot Lacey + Sean’s engagements last year at Blue Lake, but dates for their summer wedding just didn’t work out. She called me in June and said “we’re onto plan b” (like so many other of my couples this year) and I was so stoked that we could make it happen. Her adventurous soul and deep love for Sean were exceptionally special, and it meant the world to me to get to join them in the celebrations.

After hiking about 10 different trails over the course of a weekend, they settled on Rainey Lake in the North Cascades. Piper was already on board for florals, and took on a styling role as well. The outcome of Lacey’s vision and Piper’s execution was pure forest magic, and everything someone could ask for in a celebration.

They said their vows on the bank of the alpine lake with waterfalls feeding into it, and the grandiosity of the place only magnified the vows they spoke to one another. After a celebration with family, the three of us hiked up to a lookout of the lake. Lacey holding up her Grace Loves Lace gown for the hike up. We scrambled around the rocks as the sun faded out leaving the lake as vibrant as ever. We hiked down in the total darkness reflecting on the magic of the day. It was a truly special one for me.
